Connor is going great. He is still on nasel canula and they are slowly weaning him off of that. He is up to full feedings, still being fed through a tube, which is being slowly infused over an hour. They don't want to push his feedings because if he starts to not tolerate it they will have to start over from scratch. But so far he is doing well with the feedings. He will probably start bottle feeding this week. He has to learn how to coordinate sucking, swallowing, and breating at the same time. After that I will be able to breastfeed him. I asked the doctor yesterday when he might be able to come home and he said he thought within the next two weeks. So that is exciting news. Last night he weighed 4 lbs. 14 oz.

Today baby Connor Jack is 4 lbs. 10 oz. He wore his first outfit today, because he was put into a crib to see if he could maintain his own temperature without help from the lamp. He is doing well with that. He is still on the nasal canula and they are slowly weaning him off of that. I told his nurse today how great it is to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. He is getting closer and closer to coming home everyday. jay and Iget to hold him every time we are there, I get overwhelmed with joy when I get to hold him and bond with him. I just can't even explain the love I have for him, he is precious! But things are going well and he is doing great. He is now 36 weeks gestation.

Hi everybody! I hope everybody hasn't given up on me updating Connor's profile. It has been a rough couple of weeks for the baby and us. But there is really good news. Connor has come off the ventilator. He came off on Saturday Aug 18th. He was put on Cpap for two days and now he is just on a nasal canula. He is breathing the same amount of oxygen that we breathe and he is doing real well. Being off the vent is one step closer to coming home. He still isin't getting any food through his belly. He had an infection 3 weeks ago and it was a gastriointestional infection so his belly still isin't tollerating food. It just takes time. But as soon as we can get him eating we can hopefully bring him home. His current weight is 4 lbs 7 oz and he is big enough to maintain his own tempurature. His length is 16 1/2 inches. He is getting so big. He has got chubby little cheeks and a double chin. His foot is starting to heal but it will probably take months to completely heal. Over the last couple of weeks he received three more blood transfusions, he was on antibiotics for 17 days, and he went on watch for what is called NEC. It is a very serious condition where his intestions were inflamed. But he got past all the little bumps in the road and is now off the ventilator and on his way to coming home. Some of you may not know a whole lot about the IV burn. It happened on Aug 5th. The IV infiltrated and caused a 3rd degree burn. The burn was so bad that they have had a plastic surgon look at it and he told me that he might need skin graphs later on. The main concern that the doctors have is weather his mobility will be affected, but we won't know that until later on either. It has been a very hard thing for us to know that our baby has suffered a 3rd degree burn on top of what he is already going through. I know a lot of people want to see the pics of the burn, so i have posted some. They are hard to look at but it will give a little bit of a perspective on how bad it really is. It just goes to show how special connor is that he has had to endure so much already and how strong he is. He is such a little fighter and he is so sweet and so special. We love him so much and can't wait to bring him home to his family.

Connor had another hard day today he had an IV infiltrate in his foot. In other words it wasn't inserted into his vein right and the fluid from the IV leaked into the tissue. When the nurse realized it had infiltrated she tore the tape off his skin to take the IV out and it tore his skin off along with the tape. The fluid from the IV burned his skin on his foot. They are putting a cream on it to help it heal. They are also talking about having a plastic surgeon look at it. The main concearn is for his mobility in his foot to not be affected by the damage that has been done. They have been giving him something for the pain. And I spent all day at the hospital with him. He is so strong and he takes everything so well. Some of the positives for today are that they started feeding him again, only 2 cc's every three hours but it's a good start. Also he got a blessing from our home teacher in our ward. He gave a beautiful blessing and Connor was awake, and very calm during it. He has the lord there with him and angels watching over him through every trial he faces. Thanks to all of you who fasted and prayed for him today. And thanks for everybodys thoughts and prayers. Love Jay and Camecia married one year ago today!

Hi everyone! sorry it's been so long since i've updated. I'll try to fill you all in on any changes in the last week, but I will start with today first. Little Connor had a little bit of a rough day today. His blood test results came back positive for an infection. It probably won't make a whole lot of sence to most of you but the organisim is gram negative bacilli. From what it sounds like it is a pretty bad bug. They said that they will probably have him on antibiotics for seventeen days. They had to do a spinal tap. They said that he did really good, and it only took about thirty seconds. They also said that the infection is eating at his blood platlets. So they gave him his fourth blood transfusion tonight although the blood wasn't red like the last times it was yellow, because they took the platelets only. I was there with him during the transfusion and he did really well. He is still on the ventilator. His oxygen is down to 21% most of the time which is what we breathe. The ventilator is still giving him 15 breaths a minute. But he does the rest on his own. He weighs 3 lbs 5 oz. During the week he stayed about the same on the vent his oxygen levels were a little higher than they are now. At one point he got up to 3 lbs 7 oz. He was getting 25 cc's of milk, but he stopped tollerating his feedings. So they quit giving him milk and put him back on IV nutrition. Possibly because he was developing an infection would be why he started to not tolerate his feedings. When he's ready to start being fed they will start at a low amount and work his way up to what he was getting before. I got to hold him last wednesday for about an hour. It was really special. We love him so much. Kennedy and Ayden and Paiton got to look at him through the window. Ayden can't wait until he comes home. He asked if they would let him see the baby if he wore a hospital bracelet like mommys. Grandma Teddie got to spend the week out here and spend some time with Connor too. But he's doing good he just needs to grow. The doctors and nurses just have to remind me that he should still be in my belly for another 6 or 7 weeks when I start getting anxious to bring him home. He's right where he needs to be. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Love you all.
